Inspiration… What even is it?

Inspiration… What even is it?

Inspiration... What is it?

Where do you look? All of the questions can be answered with a look inward at yourself. With a planet of people telling you places to find it the only true place to look is in a mirror. In the beginning I struggled with finding what I am passionate about, and the answer did not come over night. The epiphany happened on an ordinary day in an ordinary place while watching a bird soar. The thought of being as free as the bird made my heart pound and my mind race. Then I decided that that is the place where  I belonged, the place where my inspiration dawned.

Effect on the photo and the photographer

How does inspiration affect the photographs? Inside every photograph is a self portrait, a picture of your soul and mind. Every photograph is effected by every though and inspiration that it draws from. A picture of a friend, a family member, a significant other, carries with it every feeling and thought that you have. As a photographer your job is to convey those emotions and thoughts to other so that they could possibly feel it too. Inspiration is one of the greatest mysteries of human kind. people can tell you what it is but there is almost never the actual realization on what exactly they feel or the motivations behind their inspiration. You can draw it from just about anywhere from anything that means a sliver to you.

How does it effect me?

Photography comes to us from all over, much of it benign and without meaning or inspiration, however there are some who have honed their ideals and emotions into their work and it makes the whole concept of their inspiration clear to you. How can the average photographer become a master? My thoughts on this vary however the main way that I found by studying them… inspiration and emotion. there are many facets to capture a great photograph ( which will be covered in the instructional blog ), the only way to capture great images is to be entirely captivated into the project or image. Without inspiration and meaning the whole world loses it’s beauty and awe.

The first step every photographer must take is twoards a mirror and then into their own souls.

  • “Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… It remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.”
